Labelling requirements on tobacco free nicotine products
Tobacco free nicotine products that are available to consumers on the Swedish market must carry health warnings and a content declaration in Swedish on its packages.
The labelling requirements cover packaging. Packaging includes:
- Unit packet, the smallest individual packaging of tobacco free nicotine products that is available on the market.
- Outside packaging, any packaging in which tobacco free nicotine products are available on the market and which includes a unit packet or an aggregation of unit packets; transparent wrappers are not regarded as outside packaging.
Tobacco free nicotine products that are available to consumers on the Swedish market must carry health warnings and a content declaration in Swedish on its packages.
As a manufacturer or importer, you are responsible for ensuring that packets carries correct health warnings and content declaration. There are also some elements or features that may not be presented on the packaging of tobacco free nicotine products or the product itself, prohibited product presentation.
Health warnings
Each packaging of tobacco free nicotine products must carry the following health warning in Swedish, note that the health warning ends with a period:
Denna produkt innehåller nikotin som är ett mycket beroendeframkallande ämne.
The health warning must:
- appear on the two largest surfaces of the unit packet and any outside packaging,
- cover 30 percent of the surfaces of the unit packet and any outside packaging,
- be printed in black Helvetica bold type on a white background,
- use the font size that ensures that the text occupies the greatest possible proportion of the surface reserved for the health warning,
- be at the centre of the surface reserved for them, and on cuboid packets and any outside packaging; the health warning must be parallel to the lateral edge of the unit packet or the outside packaging, and
- be parallel to the main text on the surface reserved for the warning.
The health warning may be affixed by means of stickers, provided that such stickers are irremovable.

Content declaration
Packaging of tobacco free nicotine products must have a content declaration in Swedish that includes:
- A list of all ingredients contained in the product in descending order of weight.
- An indication of the nicotine content of the product and the delivery per dose.
- A recommendation to keep the product out of reach of children.
The content declaration may be affixed by means of stickers, provided that such stickers are irremovable, and must:
- appear on one of the largest surfaces of the unit packet and any outside packaging and cover 20 percent of that surface,
- be printed in black Helvetica bold type on a white background,
- use the font size that ensures that the text occupies the greatest possible proportion of the surface reserved for the content declaration, and
- be parallel to the main text on the surface reserved for the content declaration.
Prohibited product presentation
Packaging of tobacco free nicotine products or the product itself must not include any elements or features that:
- Suggest that a particular tobacco free nicotine product is less harmful than other similar products.
- Resembles a food product.
- Resembles a cosmetic product.
