Government agencies and the 2030 Agenda
A number of Swedish governmental agencies have come together in joint forces to work together to implement the 2030 Agenda.
The forum is called "DG Forum – Swedish government agencies in joint collaboration for the 2030 Agenda".
Joint Letter of Intent for the 2030 Agenda
Through a joint letter of intent and with due respect for the various missions and activities, the government agencies within the DG Forum signal the importance of a closer partnership in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
Through the DG Forum, the heads of the participating government agencies are demonstrating responsibility and leadership in order to contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and achieve the global sustainable development goals.
The government agencies behind the declaration are contributing to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda by integrating the three dimensions of sustainable development into their activities based on their respective core missions.

Sweden and the 2030 Agenda
In the Statement of Government Policy in September 2019 it is stated that: "Our generation is the first that can end poverty around the world and the last that can end global warming. Sweden must be at the vanguard for the 2030 Agenda".
Sweden has a favourable starting point for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. However, at the same time Sweden faces important challenges. For example, in several policy areas, national objectives adopted by the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament) are more ambitious and far-reaching than the targets in the Agenda. That implies for example parliamentary goals on the environment, public health and Sweden's policy for global development. However, in many cases, the national objectives have not been achieved.

The 2030 Agenda and the role of government agencies
The 2030 Agenda highlights the importance of the participation of all actors in society and that implementation of the Agenda is a shared responsibility. In this respect government agencies play a crucial role in implementing the 2030 Agenda. It is the government agencies that apply the laws and carry out the activities decided by the Riksdag and Government.
In addition, several agencies are committed central governmental assignments on different aspects of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
